Artlink Hull & 87 Gallery
Board of Trustees Vacancies
Artlink Hull is a community arts charity working with disadvantaged people in Hull and the surrounding region to bring about positive social change. Since 1982 we have led creative workshops, learning programmes and events that are inclusive and have no barriers to entry. We work in partnership with others to enable children and young people, disabled artists and people living in areas of deprivation to engage in high quality arts and cultural experiences.
Our 87 Gallery enables artists to explore, make, share and show new work. We provide professional development opportunities such as residencies, exchanges, public engagement, mentoring, networking, training, bursaries, sales platforms and exhibition space. We provide learning and participation opportunities to diverse audiences through our year-round Gallery exhibition and community outreach programmes. We are passionate advocates of creative expression and visual culture, and we open our doors for everyone to experience and enjoy this.
Vacancy for additional Trustees
We want to appoint one or two additional trustees who would bring their own experience, expertise and insights to our work. Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the charity, and for ensuring its systems and processes of management are effective. In addition, all trustees carry basic responsibilities:
Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
Comply with the charity’s governing document and the law
Maintain awareness of the principles and requirements of the Charity Commission
Act in the charity’s best interests
Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
Act with reasonable care and skill
Ensure the charity is accountable
Terms of appointment
The Trustees will normally commit to a period of 3-4 years. As voluntary positions, no remuneration is given, however reasonable expenses will be paid and this can be discussed with the shortlisted candidates. The Board meets formally four times each year, normally in the early evening. There may also be interim Board meetings and Trustees may also participate in sub - committee meetings.
We welcome applications from anyone who lives, works or has connections with Hull or the surrounding region.
Equal Opportunities, Diversity and Inclusivity
We are an equal opportunities employer and encourage applications from anyone. We aim to be an inclusive organisation with a workforce and audience representative of the communities we work with.
